Jára Cimrman Theatre
PPF Group has been the Jára Cimrman Theatre’s general partner since 1999.
The idea of setting up the theatre blossomed from the great acclaim enjoyed by the radio programme “Vinárna U pavouka” (“Spider’s Wine Bar”) and gave Zdeněk Svěrák and Ladislav Smoljak the platform they needed to transplant their absurd “mystification” humour on to the stage. The repertoire of 15 original plays, all of which could well have been written by the theatre's fictional namesake Jára Cimrman, has remained popular across the generations. In 2021, it will be 54 years since the theatre performed its first play.
