The deal – subject to local regulatory approvals - will see O2 Slovakia take over a leading provider of internet, television and fixed telephony services, through its broadband network in nearly 80 Slovak cities, reaching more than 600,000 households.
“This deal is exciting because it will accelerate O2 Slovakia’s growth to new levels,” commented Balesh Sharma, CEO of e& PPF Telecom Group. “UPC Slovakia is one of the leading fixed line providers in the country, with a well-invested network and high service quality, which will be hugely complementary to our existing O2 Slovakia service offering.
“I would like to take this opportunity to welcome UPC employees to our telco family. This acquisition is good news for customers of both UPC and O2 Slovakia, who can now enjoy a much broader offering of services. And it’s also good news for our employees in both teams, who are now part of an extended grouping of telco operations, offering a variety of career paths as we grow our business across Europe.”
The acquisition signals e& PPF Telecom Group’s ongoing ambitions to deepen its core business offerings through strategic and targeted M&A activity.
The group previously acquired 100% of broadband provider, SBB d.o.o. Serbia, earlier this year.
