Corporate social responsibility is in O2 Czech Republic’s DNA. The O2 Foundation is the oldest corporate foundation in the Czech Republic. Since its inception, it has channeled tens of millions of crowns to support thousands of young people as they pave the way for a better civil society and seek a better education.
In recent years, the foundation’s support has centered on Czech primary education, which, thanks to the O2ChytráŠkola.cz project, has benefited from increased funding to upgrade its infrastructure. The project targets the blanket introduction of digital literacy, online safety, and media literacy as topics covered in mainstream curricula.
To help combat the effects of the pandemic, O2 has offered a helping hand to both the public and the government. Its most significant actions have been the free set-up and operation of the 1212 national crisis line; the provision of mobile internet access to all tariff customers in the spring in order to ease their access to remote learning; the announcement of a CZK 5 million grant for schools and children’s homes for the digitalization of education; the offer of free mobile computer connections to schools and non-profit organizations; and assistance to the government in promoting the eRouška application.
